Mother-of-two who died in the 2005 London bombings

Gladys Wundowa, 50, died on July 7, 2005 in the London bombings.

She was travelling to Hackney on the No 30 bus, which was blown up in Tavistock Square.

Originally from Ghana, Mrs Wundowa came to Britain in 1981 to work as a nanny for a Lebanese family whose child was being treated in hospital.

She later took British citizenship and lived in London for 18 years.

On July 7, Mrs Wundowa left the family home in Romford, Essex, shortly after 4am to begin work at 5am.

She was a cleaner in the department of civil and environmental engineering at University College London, after which she would study housing management at Hackney College.

Her ambition was to work as a manager with a housing association or local authority.

Mrs Wundowa was also a volunteer at the Hackney African Organisation, helping African immigrants settle in London.

She was survived by her husband, Emmanuel, and by a son and a daughter.

Her burial took place in her home village in Ghana and her funeral was attended by 2,000 mourners.
