16.11.2008 : Davis Parnell wrote Thanks for the memories Reg/Stan. You may not have been the most revered character actor of your generation but you provided that vital antidote to humdrum day-to-day life that we still need today. The truly great comic creations of On The Buses still give us belly laughs today. They may have been days of "birds" and "how's-your-father" but with sister Olive and Jack the clippy as well as brother-in-law Ar-thur it hit the spot for a generation. Happy days. Thanks for the laughs.

16.11.2008 : ED INGLE wrote Uncannily, while we were out on one of our four old ex London buses today, we were talking about Reg Varney.

You finally arrived at the "Cemetery Gates" on your route 11 and got one over on Blakey, Stan.

Thanks for lots of laughs. RIP Reg.

16.11.2008 : kevin sheldon wrote One more of the greats has now left us, what a guy, you were a working-class-hero. R.I.P Reg from longton bus depo.

16.11.2008 : Ross Thompson wrote Such sad news..the demise of one of our best home-grown actor/comedian/performers. I so much enjoyed him in the hilariously politically incorect, On the buses and thought that Reg played the part of the cheeky, work- shy and chauvanistic Stan Butler brilliantly. Also lets not forget that he was a multitalented stage performer and a brilliant pianist. Not bad for a true East Ender!

Thanks Reg

17.11.2008 : Philip Collins wrote Living close to Reg Varney in Enfield (the Cemetery Gates used in 'On the Buses' were about half a mile up the road from my home) I remember him around the North Enfield area. I was at a tree-planting ceremony he carried out in Hilly Fields the park opposite my home.

Reg also was the first person in the UK to use an ATM when he inaugurated the machine at Barclays Bank in Church Street Enfield.

Reg/Stan you will be sorely missed by all of us your fans. You have made a final stop now at the cemetery gates with your bus and meeting up with Jack. May you rest in peace

17.11.2008 : Michael Anderson wrote R.I.P. Reg you were one of Britain's truly funny and talented men. If we go to heaven in a bus, I hope you are driving the one I'm on.

One of Britain's best comedy actors has left us to make Heaven laugh as much as we have laughed here on earth.
We will miss you Reg as you were one of our HEROES during WWII and made a lot of people very happy in your lifetime and that's a hard job.
Lots of strengh to your family and friends in this terrible time.
And don't forget the clippies before you leave and don't be late.
