14.04.2008 : Matt Conn wrote I am so sorry for everyone that knew Mark and especially his family and close friends. SMart was my favourite show as a kid but he made the show, he was so bubbly and exciting and happy. He was a brilliant entertainer and will be sorely missed.

Marks' pain is over now and I just hope that all the families concerned can help each other through theirs.

14.04.2008 : f h wrote the news has woken me from my sleep. what a tragic loss.... somebody so special, creative and ... he gave so much, and had so much more to give. i just wish i could understand, and that somebody could have helped him through this... what a loss for our nation and our nation's children. i am a 25 year old living abroad, and had been thoroughly enjoying his funky creativity on smart... mark had a gift, and made it super-fun for children to learn and be creative. you will be remembered.

He was one of the few children's tv presenters that I enjoyed watching too!!! I was sad to hear of his passing so young- my thoughts are with him and his fiance's family.

This is such a tragic loss, but the poor man had so much to bear and the pain was too much for him. So sad he could not have found someone to share this with. I hope he is now in peace and reunited with Natasha. xxx

I know my son will greatly miss not seeing Mark's enthusiasm and encouragement through shows such as SMart. He was an inspiration to all both young and hold. Smart was my favorite T.V program and I was really upset when Mark Speight died. I love to draw and I loved all of his advice about drawing - he was my inspiration and my "Art Idol".
My younger sister says: -
When I was sick he made me forget all about how sick I was so at the end of the program I felt loads better. He was really funny but also very good at art.

This is such a sad loss and I still can't quite get my head around it. You had your whole life ahead of you and you will be very sadly missed by your family, friends and fans. TV won't be the same without you. I hope you are at peace now with Natasha which you should have had in life RIP. Ypu will always be remembered as a really cool bloke and fantastic artist. Miss You

We all loved watching Mark's programes especially my Daughter Katie who's 7 she loved SMART & tried to copy everything (she is really quite good) Mark did & Kirsten of course. They made such a great team.
You are now reunited with Natasha the lady you loved & still do.
RIP both of you our hearts go out to all of both of your families at this very difficult time & to Kirsten who has lost a great friend.

We really enjoyed watching Mark on cbeebies, in particular we would get very excited about 'Big Picture! Little Picture!'. Mark's enthusiasm and energy were infectious and he was obviously very talented and good and what he did. I'll miss seeing him on TV and best regards for his friends and family. It's a real shame things didn't work out for him.
