You were an inspiration to me,our family and the whole world.
Life is so unfair.
We will miss you so much Ado...

Two tired eyes are sleeping, two willing hands are still,
The one who worked so hard for us is resting at God’s will.
We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain,
To walk with us along life’s way until we meet again.

Love always Laura x x x

13.05.2009 : Sarah Richards wrote Adrian, you were an inspiration to us all. Only the bravest of men return to the army to do what you did. Kirkby will never be the same without your cheeky grin. Our thoughts are with the family. RIP brave soldier, Love Sarah, Riddle and kids xxxx

14.05.2009 : Bill Nash wrote May we offer special condolences to the Sheldon family, friends and loved ones especially his parents Mark and Diane, and his younger sister Amy . We feel close to your loss as we lost our son killed in action with 1 Rifles just before Christmas.

Our pain is overwhelming, but these were special men dedicated to their profession, cognizant of the risks and eager to do their duty. We must be proud of them.

For those of us intimately affected by the cost of these operations the price is beyond reckoning, recent Herrick tours have been particularly harrowing for our forces. We must not be frightened or daunted by the grief these losses cause, but emboldened to ensure that the sacrifices made are the foundations of a better world.

Adrian's experience and Stuart's potential are such a great loss. We grieve with you.

Bill & Amanda Nash

My brother,my best mate the kind of brother you'd wish for..
You've gone all so sudden i don't know what to feel, how to think or what to do,im only sure of one thing and that is that you did what you was born to be..A soldier
Not being able to ever see you again i just cannot become to accept,
The feeling that something is missing will never become complete,
I miss you so much Ado,
Love you, from the proud sister of an absolute Hero xXxXxXx

The happy times that we enjoyed,
How sweet the memory still,
But death has left a vacant place,
this world can never fill.
Though your smile is gone forever
And your hand we cannot touch,
we shall never lose sweet memories,
Of you we loved so much.

28.05.2009 : Chris Leek wrote I did not know Adrian but attended his funeral this week in Kirkby and was deeply moved, I have a long military backround and sometimes think our lads are not appreciated enough by the public they serve and was inspired to place the following on facebook,,,,today I attended a funeral for a hero a stranger to me, but somehow I do know this man, he is the one who wanted to make a difference, he thought out of the box and decided to support freedom and stand up for democracy, he enjoyed the camaraderie and the family that is the British Army and I have met him so many times in my life down the years. I salute Rifleman Adrian Sheldon, who was born in Kirkby in Ashfield Nottingham and died in Afghanistan and to all those like him who stand up to give us freedom and liberty to enjoy such things as Facebook, big brother and Britain’s got talent and all the other trivialities of our life, god bless him and his comrades and I ask you just for one minute to spare a thought for the families that sacrifice sons for that same freedom

29.05.2009 : susan chalk wrote England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal sphere
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them...

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain

if you, my beloved,
my love, have died

All the leaves,

All day, all night.

My feet will want to march,

but I must go on living.'

Adrian you were repatriated with my brother Ben Ross. You are all heroes for standing up and being so brave. Unfortunately grief is the price we pay for love. My prayers are with your family as they get through this difficult time. God bless. Helen
