I am currently on my r and r from Afghan, serving in 4/73 Bty which Jack was attatched too.
When the news came in that there had been casualties,we were all horrified.
Sadly we were told about Jack, everybody was totally devastated.
I only knew Jack for just less than one year but we all reguarded him as a friend, as we do of all the HAC.Totally likeable,always there if anybody was in need, it would take me more than two hundred words to list his qualities.
My thoughts are with his family,girlfriend and all his friends at this time.
Rest in peace Jack , all the battery are thinking about you , you will never be forgotten mate.

04.12.2008 : Jeannette MacDonald wrote It is a year ago today that Jack was killed. My heart is broken. He was my precious son. My baby. I have two older children so I am blessed. But they have lost their brother and I have lost my baby.
He died doing what he loved and what he wanted to do so I should be content. I am not content because he died because donkeys lead lions!!

I just learned from a friend of his that he was killed in Afghanistan one year ago. I am so saddened to hear this news. I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at King's College Department of War Studies in 2004/5 and had the pleasure to have Jack in classes on international relations and contemporary security studies. I remember him as a bright student with a great sense of humour, respected by his fellow classmates and teacher. I was always amazed at the students who combined their studies with military training, and Jack stood out as one that could balance both successfully. I was working in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when the plane hit the building and lost colleagues on that day. I feel personally grateful to Jack, who served his nation and mine in Afghanistan. God bless those close to Jack and those still serving in his unit.
