Lillian Jean Phillips, who was known as Jean, died aged 77 on 15 August, 2008, after a short illness at North Devon District Hospital.

She was born in Bideford on 15 May, 1931, the daughter of W.Bale and F.Bale.

In her later years she enjoyed travelling with her dear companion Bill and was always happy to help others.

She was a valued member of the Mariners Close community in Braunton and will be missed by all who knew her there.

She was survived by her brother Brian Bale and his wife Janet, Jean’s daughters, Susan Jane McGill, of Braunton, and Carol May Crystal of Maine, USA, son Christopher John Williams of Bradninch, grandchildren Mark Williams, Nicholas Williams, Sarah Friel, Kevin Brown, Stephen Williams and Jazmine Parkes and great grandchildren Lucia Williams, Sophie Williams, Jack Williams, Caleb Brown, Brianna Brown, Felicia Rogers and baby Max A Miller.

Jean’s family said: "Mum, nanny and great granny will be sadly missed by us all and will be in our thoughts forever — we love you. Rest in Peace."
