30.08.2008 : jim emery wrote I have always been a fan of comedy programmes and throughout the years I have watched Geoffrey's productions and enjoyed them. There aren't many comedy producers that I can name except for Geoffrey and the shows he was involved in usually meant green light for me. From his suave deadpan approach on KYTV to the surreal Big Train, a lot of these shows shaped the person I became, stealing a line or quoting a gag. I am very saddened by this loss and I hope that his memory lives on at the BBC and new talent can be discovered and mentored in his name. It is the least he deserves. A great great man and a tragic loss.

01.09.2008 : Craig Watson wrote Countless shows of comedies that Geoffery Perkins was involved in. So much talent the man had. He will be greatly missed. RIP Geoffery.

01.09.2008 : Paul Leather wrote I had the pleasure of working with Geoffrey on Spitting Image over many series. He was a decent man and a funny man. Sensitive and curious, always looking for the funniest aspects of the scripts and the performances. Gone now. "Goney gone" and far too early, especially for his close friends and family. My heartfelt condolences to them. I just wish...if he really HAD to go this awful way...that it had been in Mornington Crescent and with a truck load of bananas...though I'm sure Geoffery would come up with something much funnier...if only he had been given the chance.

03.09.2008 : Stephen Gilbert wrote Sadly I didnt know Geoff after I left school(Harrow County) although we did meet up at a reunion a few years ago --he also knew my older brother Brian well
Geoff sat behind me in class for at least a year & I always remembered him as a bright friendly guy & when we met again after over 30 years it was as if not time had passed

I always admired & enjoyed the shows he appeared in & produced & clearly at school he had hidden his talents under a bushell

I live in Marylebone too & my wife was in the High St shortly after the incident & recounted the awful details to me -little did we realise on Friday that it was Geoff who was the victim -I had mentioned Geoff to my wife several times in recent months & we are devastated at the terrible loss --our thoughts are with his family.

03.09.2008 : Stephen Bassett wrote Wherever you happen to be Geoff, remember 'A2'. I am just looking at a photo of you, surrounded by books in that little cubby hole come club at HCS, with Nigel, Clive and Jim Golland, you are dictating some script for a shool play, with Michael on the golfball typewriter (modern!). You were just as friendly, supportive and funny back then at school (35+ years ago), as all the tributes now say.

Since leaving school, you have quietly brightened many lives and it was always a pleasure to read your name in the manifold credits. I was so, so sorry to hear the news and wish all your family well.

"Fred"

05.09.2008 : Lisa Sargent wrote I only found out today, while watching Paul and Harry (BBC1 Fri 9pm)
What a time for you to die! This is so ironic! This world is totally **** up! Take care Geoff and I hope you go on to produce for Douglas Adams in the sky. With love from Lisa.

06.09.2008 : emma Rydal wrote I worked with Geoffrey on two fun filled series of 'Swiss Toni'. He was such a kind, jolly, chap, generous too, he always ended up paying for meals out! I cannot believe he has gone in such bizarre circumstances, I had only seen him the day before. I am so sorry he has gone and my heart goes out to his family.
What a waste, what a lovely man, and what a massive contribution he has made to the world of comedy. He was a true gent and will be sorely missed.

R.I.P Geoffrey.

07.09.2008 : Russ Jepson wrote My earliest memories of comedy and satire are the Hitchhikers Guide radio shows in which he was so involved. Douglas Adams was and still is a major hero and influence of mine, his loss affected me deeply as his words always allowed me to escape reality. Now we loose another immense talent. My deepest condolences to his family and friends, his legacy will live on and continue to brighten many lives. Good writers never die they simply become immortal.

09.09.2008 : Luke Davey wrote I always knew Geoffrey as Mike Flex from KYTV (an eighties lampoon of Sky Television) and actually had no idea of his administrative influence until he died. How awful for him to go the way he did, although if he fainted I can take solace from the fact that he was probably unaware of what was happening. His input has given us so many comedies that I was unaware of his involvement in - the most pronounced example being Father Ted, my favourite sitcom of all time.

Rest in peace, and I hope that comedy will continue to prosper in the same vain.

10.09.2008 : emyr jones wrote I can't believe that he's gone, such a nice chap and producer of some of the best comedy we have ever seen, why is it always the best that are taken before their time? He will be very sorely missed.

10.09.2008 : Trevor Eves wrote Who am I?

Just one man; one of the millions who watches TV...

What is Geoffrey Perkins to me?

A comedy God.

My earliest recollection of his name was when I listened to my Dad's tapes of HHGTTG that Mum bought for him for Christmas. I was only young but he didn't get a chance, I pinched the tapes and listened through the whole lot before him! School suffered, but it was another world opened up to me, I'd never heard anything like it before.

I've grown up listening and watching Geoff's work. I can't believe it's all over.

My heart goes out to his family for this tragic loss.

RIP, mate, and thank you for making me laugh.

04.10.2008 : A Golland wrote Just watched Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouses second series ep1 and learned about the extent of Geoffrey's commitment and influence over the wonderful comedy of the BBC that I have grown to love over the years, so hats off Mr. Perkins, Geoffrey, YOU are fantastic and deserving of the many tributes and tribulations a fine citizen of the airwaves deserves, inspiration abounds!

06.10.2008 : Chris Barrett wrote I couldn't believe it when I heard the news on the radio the same evening. I was absolutely gutted. Such a comedy genius. From what I'd seen and heard in the past I always personally thought he was a nice guy as well as obviously immensely talented. I was a fan of ALL the programmes he was responsible for. I had nothing but respect and admiration for what he has done for British comedy. We have so much to thank him for. A massive loss to British comedy, let alone his family and close friends. My heart goes out to you all. We love you Geoff.
