Tributes to teenager killed in road accident

Anil Pabari, who died on October 1, 2007, had been on his way to study at university for the first time when he was involved in a car crash.

The 18-year-old from Leicester was killed after the silver Honda Civic he was a passenger in left the M1.

Mr Pabari, a former pupil of Rushey Mead School, in Melton Road, was making his way to Sheffield Hallam University to begin his studies.

Narandas Adatia, a friend of Mr Pabari's family and an ex-president of the Shree Ram Mandir temple, in Hildyard Road, where the family worship, said: "The entire community is in shock."I went round to try to offer some comfort. They are so depressed and crying. It is a very difficult time.

"He was going up to university for the first time when it happened."He had been before to sort out renting his room and all that, but this was the first time he had gone to study.

"Last time he had gone with his parents, but this time a friend offered him a lift.

"I just pray to the Almighty that he welcomes this youth and offers comfort to the family."

Belgrave councillor Rashmikant Joshi said the bereavement would be especially hard for the family to deal with because it came just before a 15-day Hindu festival where families remember their ancestors.

He said: "When I heard this tragic news, it sent a real shock through my body."It is really so sad to hear such a young life has been lost, especially at this time of the year. My thoughts and condolences go out to the family."
