Dear Jimmy - we didn't know you, but our family live in Burnt Ash Hill and this terrible crime has hit us all hard. We have heard the news reports of the lovely person that you were, and this shines through in the pictures of you too. You are in a better place now, and my thoughts are with your grieving family who must be suffering the worst kind of trauma at your tragic loss. We send them all our love,
Anne, Gibraltar

I did not know Jimmy but he sounds like a person the entire world needed to know. The Jimmys of this world are so rare and so hard to come by that the only reason i can come up with as to why he was taken so early, was that he was needed somewhere else.
His family although devastated had the opportunity of having 16 years of something special and those memories will never be erased.
The Jimmy Mizens of this world are rare, and anything that is rare you have to search for. A diamond you cannot find just like that, you have to dig for it, the family of Jimmy had a diamond in their home, and they knew it, they looked after it, polished it, and it glowed and is still so precious.
So to all those who believe in violence..for the sake of Jimmy and in memory to him..please lay down your weapons before it's too late.
To the family and friends..God bless you all!

Jimmy Mizen died on 10 May, 2008, just a day after his 16th birthday.
Jimmy was the son of Margaret and Barry Mizen and an altar boy at Our Lady of Lourdes church, in Lee, south east London. He had six brothers and two sisters.
He suffered a fatal neck injury from a shard of glass while in the Three Cooks bakery in Lee with one of his brothers.
Jimmy was out with his brother Harry, 18, and had gone to buy his first-ever National Lottery ticket.
Jimmy attended St. Winifreds Infant and Junior school and then moved on to the Roman Catholic St Thomas More school in Eltham - where his father is vice chairman of the governors.
He also played for Sidcup rugby club. His family said he wasn't the best player but he enjoyed it. He loved the atmosphere of the club and the comradeship and the many friends he made.
The Metropolitan Police called the crime "another tragic incident where a young victim has lost his life."
Jimmy's parents, Margaret and Barry, paid tribute to their son. Mrs Mizen said: "Jimmy was just the sweetest boy you could ever meet."
