Died of heart failure while on duty

Collapsed and died of heart failure while on duty in the early hours as Custody Sergeant at Hatfield Police Station. Alan had 25 years service having served with the Metropolitan Police for 15 years prior to his transfer as a sergeant to Hertfordshire where he served on CID and as a Custody Office Sergeant. He is survived by his fiancée, his daughter aged 24 and two sons aged 16 and 11 years.
