I can't remember her per se, but she certainly sounds like she led a fascinating life and knew her own mind, so all respect to her for that. Next time I watch a L&H film with her in I will definitely keep an eye out for her appearances! Rest in peace Dorothy Layton. Request removal

16.06.2009 : Jay Payton wrote I had been searching for Dorothy Layton for several years with no luck. Late last year I ran into her daughter Barbara online. We exchanged several emails and I asked if it would be possible to acquire the autograph of Miss Dorothy Layton. She said she was to see her mother at Thanksgiving and gave me her address to send photo. She emailed me and stated she was successful in getting her mother to sign a photo and it was the last autograph granted by Miss Dorothy Layton. To my surprise dear Barbara replaced my printout with a photo of her own and had it signed. I received the photo and a warm letter from Barbara thanking me for remembering her mother and that she was touched that fans still remembered her work almost 75 years later. I didn't hear from Barbara again after several attempts to contact. Sadly, I learned that she passed away earlier this year. I will always be grateful and cherish the autograph of Miss Dorothy Layton. Now that they have been reunited. May Barbara and Dorothy Rest in Peace... Request removal

The usual slapstick mayhem ensues. It's sad to think we've lost another of the living links from the great days of the classic Hal Roach black and white comedies - but good to hear that she lived to such a grand age.Rest in peace.
