Always there for a joke, smiling and tending to his lawn and flowers with Denise, shouting silly comments across the road to me or my dad. I know Alex and my father will be sharing a whiskey or two up above, looking down and making sure we're all safe, and continuing to give us all the love we need to go on. A man who faught so hard for what he believed in, and someone we can all look to and remember for guidance and inspiration. Another friend has passed, but never forgotten. David Bell Request removal

I was immediately enrolled into the Magistrates' Association of which Alex was a leading light both locally and nationally. It is his fault that I am constantly in London on MA business as I seemed to "take over" where Alex had left off especially on the Youth Courts Committee - talk about Svengali - I didn't even notice what had happened!!!I had known Denise for years as our children had gone to school together and our paths crossed many times through the years until I realised that Denise and Alex were a pair - of what you cry!Well they were a pair of very dear friends. We shared a love of caravanning and Ireland and then along came Ellie their beautiful little spaniel.I shall miss Alex desperately as a friend and a mentor - he was a very wise man and a Leo like me!!I thankfully still have my lasting friendship with Denise whose company I love and cherish. Alex Kilpatrick a gentle man in every way - Lots of love to you from Anne xxx Request removal

He threw much input into these lives, this being one of the factors why he was respected to such a high level.A man that would do anything for anybody and at the time of crisis would be there to assist.Throughout his life he thrived on his volunteer work, this showing again just what a man he was.Alex loved dearly and was loved dearly by my mum Denise. When times were hard, Alex was there at her side. Whenever i needed advice, i knew i could turn to him, anytime, anyplace. He always had the answer, and it was a good one.Jack and Jessica, his grandchildren adored Alex, known to them as POPPY,always begging to visit. The feelings were mutual from him - he thought the world of them.Alex will live in our hearts forever. You'll never be forgotten. Thanks for everything. I hope i can fight like you. 20.01.2009 : Rudy and Pat Gajdosik wrote Twenty-eight years ago our family met Alex through a pen pal contest assigned the boys of Troop #3 Boy Scouts, Derby, USA. My grandmother was a Kilpatrick and we were in hopes of finding a relative in England. Alex wasn't related but our friendship endured these many years. Alex was a good friend, supportive in times of need and a good listener. My husband, Rudy and I enjoyed a companionable relationship with Alex and Denise and will always remember our trips into Scotland and England. His generous nature made our visits memorable. The one trip Alex and Denise made to the USA we traveled to Niagara Falls and Canada. Alex put on his driving gloves, kept his eyes on the road and drove, once and awhile saying, "What state are we in now?'. 10 hours later we were still in the state of New York. We will miss the twinkle in his eye when he got his cowboy hat. The satisfaction on his face as he relaxed with a scotch in hand. The love that shown for his wife, Denise.Denise, we thank you for the loving care you bestowed on Alex. You were his world.Love, Pat/Rudy Request removal

He had a big heart and was inspirational to all who knew him, described as a man before his time. Alex was a lovely, warm and caring person who was always ready to share a joke and had a very mischievious glint in his eye. He had a real passion for life which shone through in all his many interests. There are not enough people in this world like you Alex, and you will be greatly missed by all who's lives you touched. 02.02.2009 : Roy Thomson wrote I was a student of Mr Kilpatrick way back in the early 70s when he was a lecturer at Willmorton college and although I only saw him once more after that time he was always the one that stuck in my memory and I have never been surprised when I have read about his various interests and involvement with things in the paper. Needless to say I was sad to read of his illness in the paper last year. I would like to send my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. I remember him as a very thoughtful, intelligent man with a sharp wit that could catch a few unaware and as a teacher that did just that. I know that he would not have remembered me or many of his students individually but I do know that many more than myself will remember him with great respect and affection. Request removal
