American actor and stuntman best known for ‘The High Chaparral’

Robert ‘Bobby’ Hoy, who died on 8 February, 2010, aged 82, was an American stuntman and actor.

He was a recipient of the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s prestigious ‘Golden Boot’ award for work in the Western genre, and the Stuntman's Association of Motion Pictures ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.

His best known acting role was as a ranch hand Joe Butler in television series The High Chaparral (1967–71) and he appeared in dozens of shows and films between 1950 and 2005, ranging from Star Trek to Magnum, P.I.

He did stunt work on such films as Spartacus (1960), It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), The Great Race (1965) and The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), in which he also acted.

He also worked as a second unit director and stunt coordinator for television series.

He was survived by his wife Kiva.
