Officer who died attending an emergency call

PC Hart, aged 40, was killed in a road traffic accident, while responding to an emergency incident just before midnight on 12 January 2008, when the police van he was driving was in collision with a car at Openshaw; the police vehicle overturned and he sustained major head injuries from which he died instantly.

Christopher was appointed to Greater Manchester Police on 3 November, 2003, and worked as a response officer based at Bury. In 2005 he was awarded a Divisional Commander's commendation for his professionalism and calmness in helping rescue a child from a violent incident.

He was survived by his six-year-old son and his parents of whom he was their only surviving child following the death of his brother Andrew, aged 17, in 1987.
