06.09.2008 : Jeff Clowes wrote I was saddened to read of the sudden death of Peter Hallett. I first met him last season at a Kidsgrove Athletic game when I was covering it for the Non-League Paper.
He was really friendly and helpful, and looked after me all afternoon. We have met at numerous games since and he was always the same. He was so full of enthusiasm and had a vast knowledge of the local non league scene.
He was also keen to tell me how much he appreciated the amount of column inches The Sentinel gave to non league football. Never did he think that might have something to do with him and the quality of his work.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, all involved in local football, fellow journalists and readers.
He was a true gent.

06.09.2008 : Martin Whiting wrote Peter Hallett has been a stalwart of the Chartered Institute of Marketing for many years and he played a very active part in all of its affairs, from branch, region and national level.

His passing away has come as quite a shock and we have now lost a very experienced and valuable member of the North Staffordshire CIM branch, as well as a true advocate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Peter was widely known within the Institute, having undertaken many roles to help promote Marketing and the Institute to a wide audience, selflessly giving up his time on an uncountable number of occasions. He was truly one of the very first Ambassadors for Marketing.

Both personally and as Branch Chairman on behalf of the North Staffordshire CIM branch, my deepest sympathies are now with his wife Pat.
06.09.2008 : Dennis Vickers wrote Peter was a regular visitor to Norton United Football Club and he was always very welcome.
He first came to us several years ago and impressed us all by his incredible thirst for, and his fantastic knowledge of the non- league game. He knew how many games he had seen- and there were hundreds- and he could recall most of them. He really loved "doing" Match of the Day.
He never spoke ill of any of the clubs and was extremely generous in his praise.
He was with us on Saturday 30th August for our FA Cup match v Leek Town and we are honoured that he came to see us. His report in the paper was, as usual, very accurate and very fair.
Everyone at Norton United will miss Peter and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
May you rest in peace.
07.09.2008 : David Dixon wrote Peter was a stalwart of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and I knew him through our regional organisation. He was remarkably youthful and energetic - none would have realised his age until we read the tributes. Totally professional, he gave good service to the Institute and he will be sorely missed. Adios, Peter.
07.09.2008 : ant minor wrote Peter was what non-league football is all about, most genuine person you could wish to meet and was always professional in everything he did. He would never have a bad word to say about anybody or any club. He will be sadly missed by all in non-league football especially at Meir KA where he became a personal friend, our deepest sympathy goes to all of his family. 16.09.2008 : Derek Milward wrote I was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Peter Hallett. I have known Peter through his sterling work with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and in particular the West Midlands Regional Board for many years.
He was a kind and generous man. He had a ready smile and a mischievious sense of humour. He was particularly concerned with the personal development of marketers and he helped many CIM members and others to make significant career changes for themselves through his support and wise counsel. He had tremendous enthusiasm for all aspects of marketing and was always eager to learn something new. He also had enthusiasm for his wider interests outside the world of marketing particularly non league football. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. My condolences to his wife Pat his family and friends.
21.09.2008 : roger haywood wrote Peter Hallett will be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues. My relationship with him was through the Chartered Institute of Marketing in which he played a vital role, particularly in promoting the cause of marketing, its benefits to industry and to the public. Latterly he had been an excellent teacher and an inspiration to many; he was able to put his considerable business experience to work in helping a new generation of marketers. As a past chaitrman of CIM myself, who had the pleasure of working with Peter and seeing the instinted efforts that he put in with good humour and generosity, I would like to record my small appreciation of a great and distinguished professional.
