12.10.2009 : Lasting Tribute wrote Andrew Lloyd Webber has given a statement saying that he is “shocked and deeply upset” by the death of Stephen Gately, who starred in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2003 and who recorded a version of No Matter What from Whistle Down the Wind with Boyzone.

“He was enormously talented and I very much enjoyed working with him on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and the Boyzone hit No Matter What – my biggest selling single,” Mr Lloyd Webber said.

He added: “His death is a great loss to the musical world.”

i remember when i met stephen at one of the roadshows at northgate arena in chester. he was always smiling. he was really friendly. i always loved his angelic voice. i will always miss him. he will always be in my heart. i send my thoughts out to the family and close friends. he will be missed. xx
