20.08.2008 : gaynor hall wrote I had the honour of working with Barry in Cyprus. Barry was a real character and he soon became a good friend. Barry was devoted to his wife Shelly and their children Andie and Charlie.

Barry was always smiling and laughing and made the medical centre a happy place to work. He was a fantastic medic who was keen to learn and advance his career. Many a good laugh was had over a few beers. Rest in peace Barry you are a one of life's real stars. You will be missed and never forgotten xx. My thoughts are with all Barry's family at this sad and tragic time.

23.08.2008 : Jackie Rozario wrote I am very saddened to hear from a fellow medic of Barry's sudden unfortunate fate. It has come as a surprise and and a great shock! I met him whilst I was doing my basic Combat Technician's Course at the same venue in the Medical Training Corps in Ash, Aldershot in January this year.

He came across as a warm and friendly individual who had time for anyone. Although sometimes I had difficulty understanding his scottish accent, he didnt have a problem repeating himself in his slightly slower paced accent but i still didnt understand some of it...lol.. I remember Barry as being a very polite and well mannered gentleman. Im sure he will be missed by his friends and family deeply but will live on all our memories.

May God rest his soul and bless his family!

25.08.2008 : stacey churchill wrote I personally never knew Barry, but my son Ben did. Ben did his medic training with Barry and is devastated that he cant be here to pay his deepest respects to Shelly and her children. Ben is serving in Iraq and was deeply saddened to get the news that his dear friend had fallen, doing the job that he loved. Ben always spoke very highly of this courageous young man and how he was devoted to his two young children and his wife.
My son will always be eternally grateful to Barry as it was Barrys match making that got my son and his fiance together (eventually) Lol xx.
I am sure that Barrys family dont need reminding that their son, husband and daddy is a true hero not only in their hearts, but also in the hearts of everyone who where blessed to know him.
R.I.P Barry, its true what they say, god only takes the best xxx

My prayers, thoughts and love are with your family at this time xx God Bless Sweet Angelxx (Mrs Stacey Churchill & Family)
R.I.P mate, your the best of the best Pte Ben Churchill

27.08.2008 : Dave Smith wrote I had the pleasure of working with Barry on many occasions (as a GP locum) when he was stationed in Episkopi in Cyprus. Having recently retired as the Director of Army GP I can honestly say that he was a thoroughly good, competent and friendly medic, and a good family man. He was an excellent member of the team. It was with great sadness that I heard of his death in Afghanistan and I should like to pass my condolences on to his wife and family.

02.09.2008 : frank gormanley wrote I and my family had the pleasure of knowing Barry as a young boy when he visited us in Dalmellington many years ago, both the family and my parents were very fond of Barry and we are saddened by this devastating news.
Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to his immediate family and children along with sadness for his Mum & Dad.

Barry grew up into a great and very popular young lad and will be very much missed by many, God bless you young man and your courage will never be forgotten.

17.03.2009 : susan chalk wrote England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

15.09.2009 : Pete H wrote ‘Thoughts & prayers we share with you soldier, your families, your friends left behind. We know you have not gone forever, just gone before us. We will meet again.
GOD BLESS YOU - THANK YOU - REST IN PEACE .

For Our Deceased Service Men and Women
You are all-powerful, God, and live forever in light and joy. Look with pity and love, we beg You, on those men and women who bravely fought and gallantly died for their country. By laying down their lives, they showed supreme love for others. Accept, we ask You, their sacrifice and their belief in the justice of the cause they died for. Let their offering not be in vain. Please forgive any sins and faults they may have committed. Speedily, we implore You, bring them into Your Presence where fear, sadness, mourning, and death cannot exist. Have pity in Your loving kindness on those they leave behind. In Your own unsearchable ways, make good for their absence, and lavishly bestow Your love and consolations on those deprived of their presence. This we ask in the Name of Christ, our Victor King. Amen.
