Stephen Byard

Somercotes | 1953 - 2008

Remembering Stephen Byard, a father of four, who died on 8 June, 2008.

Mr Byard is believed to have died from a stab wound following an incident in Swanwick.

Julie Emmerson, landlady of The Black Horse pub in Somercotes, opposite his home, said he had regularly visited her pub and they had been friends for 20 years.

She described Mr Byard as a loving father to his four sons. He loved cars and motorbikes, often taking his bike to Matlock with friends, and was a former bass guitarist in a rock and roll band.

Your Memories

My goodness my memories of Steve are from when he played bass guitar in blue jean bop and in walk don't run with my dad. Steve was always lovely to me but then i was only a kid i dated his son lee for a short while although only being so young it was just holding hands and giggling. I know Steve was a great father he loved his kids to bits and I am so sorry for their loss. He was a fab bass guitarist and his music will live on in our memories forever. Sleep well Steve untill we all meet again. STACEY WIGHTMAN — 10.06.2008
I remember Steve very well we used to play together in the band Walk Dont Run which I was the lead guitarist. We used to have the odd day out fishing also nights out together watching other bands. He was a good man and will be missed dearly. Steve was funny, used to make us laugh on gigs and was always a top performer. I will miss you Steve but you will always be remembered in the music scene. Rest my friend rest. jason comfort — 11.06.2008
