He came from an era where footballers were gentlemen and knew how to conduct themselves. It's a real shame. My heart goes out to his family.

This was a surprise for my son Patrick Mulkerrin who remembers Tommy coming to his school St Ninians to talk to the class. Patrick has never forgotten this and when he saw Tommy at his party holding his birthday cake the tears just ran down his face as they have again today. He was a wonderful man and player and we were privileged to meet him. Our sympathy and prayers go out to his family. Veronica Gilfedder-Clarke

He made time for everyone who asked for his authograph, including my cousin who visited him at his own home unannounced and he posed for photographs and his doorstep. Never mind the loss to Celtic, the world has lost a great man, If the world had more true gents like him in it then it would definately be a happier place. R.I.P Tommy. x

I too was brought up in the shadow of Parkhead in Janefield St and was born exactly three years to the day after you.. however as a Rangers supporter.
I cannot express my sadness at your passing, you exemplified everything that is good about having a love for and being involved in football.
You loved your club with a passion that everyone, blue or green, could only respect and admire.
You truly are up there with all the all of the great hoops players and managers of the past and I'm sure will be remembered with great fondness by all true football fans for years to come.

Since I began supporting Celtic Rangers won everything. Tommy gave me my first memory of a great Celtic team and seeing them lifting a trophy for the first. Although to young to have seen him play with Celtic, I do understand what he has done for the club and the supporters have good memorys of him. We are all thankfull to have known him.
