Your Memories

Darren you were such a good friend of mine for many years. I remember walking home from school with you and the long talks we had along the way. Laughing and carrying on in the music room ( i still have the picture of us all practising our dance moves ). You were such a lovely, kind and gentle soul.
The last time i saw you Darren, we sat on the bus together on the way home from Belfast. You had just got into the Police, something that you had been trying to do for a while, but your eyesight had hindered this process. You were so proud that day and shared your excitment with me all the way home. I was so shocked then to hear on the news that you had been murdered not long after that.
I went to your funeral along with many more from school. You were buried close to Alan who we also lost.
You were so young Darren and had so much more to give. I will always remember you with fondness.
Rest in peace
Love

Officer who died in the line of duty.
While the officer was off duty with friends in a bar in Dunbar Street, Belfast, late at night, nationalist gunmen entered the premises and one of them shot the constable in the back; as the officer staggered two more shots were fired and he died at the scene from his injuries.
