Popular engineer and local farmer killed in mid-air plane crash
Harvey Antrobus was one of the passengers on board a Cessna light aircraft when it was in collision with another plane in the skies above Coventry on 17 August, 2008.
Mr Antrobus, James Beagley , Sybille Gautrey and pilot Sophie Hastings were killed when their damaged plane crashed after it was involved in a collision with a Rand KR-2 kit-built plane, piloted by Brian Normington , who also died. The two planes were coming into land at Coventry Airport when they collided.
All four people on board the Cessna 402, including 28-year-old Mr Antrobus, were employees of specialist survey company Reconnaissance Ventures Ltd (RVL) and were on a routine flight when the crash happened.
An engineer and farmer by trade, Mr Antrobus was also vice president of the Warwickshire Federation of Young Farmers.
He grew up on a farm in Fillongley, north Warwickshire, and was a pupil at Bablake School in Coventry.
He was described by his family as a "happy outgoing young man who stood out from the crowd".
In a statement they said: "He always had a smile on his face and was perfect in every way."
Mr Antrobus was sponsored by Air Atlantique, a specialist classic aircraft company based at Coventry Airport, to study aeronautical engineering at Coventry University and went to work for the firm after completing his degree.
He remained involved in farming, and he and his brother established their own herd of cattle.
His family said: "Harvey was a very practical young man who was a keen marksman and who had already built up a reputation as a good shot.
"In addition he was an experienced driver, enjoying both a Land Rover and a TVR.
"Young farmers' clubs in this and the surrounding counties will all sadly miss him."His grandmother Annie Antrobus also paid tribute to him, saying: "Harvey was a wonderful boy, he was very kind."
He also had a "beautiful nature" she said.
A friend, Josie Morrissey, wrote on a social networking site: "We had so much fun over ten years of your special life - I can't begin to think what the next ten years will be like without you. All I want you to know is I loved you, I still love you and I hope you rest in peace."
Another friend Abi Culley said: "Harvey so many people loved you - you made a big impact on a lot of people's lives and you were always cheerful whatever the circumstances. Your parents and family are so proud of you and you achieved so much - your memories will live on forever."
